DesignLine began its hybrid electric vehicle development over 10 years ago with the first field tests of the MK-1 HEV.  With the introduction of the MK-IV, DesignLine has produced one of the most advanced commercial buses in the world, incorporating the latest technology for both system control and driver interface systems.  The MK-IV control system incorporates a fully automatic battery management system and drive control system as well as controlling the APU.  It also displays all information required by the service staff.

The MK-IV is also fitted with the latest VDO driver interface system.  This incorporates a LCD display which shows the driver various information about the bus at the touch of a button.

the MK-IV is a super low floor bus, which is capable of kneeling to ease access for all passengers.  It has wheel chair ramps for mobility-impaired passengers and safety interlocks built into ramps.

The shape of the MK-IV bas has not only an eye-catching exterior, but is also visually pleasing and passenger friendly on the inside.  The large windows provide a great open view.  The interior is designed to allow passengers to easily move through the bus without interfering with the other bus users.
